Less Stuff, More Heart: The Joy of Simple Living and Generous Giving

Hey friend – I’m so glad you’re here!

You know that wonderful feeling when something finally clicks and you just can’t wait to share it with someone you care about? That’s how I feel about this season. Over the last few years, in my walk with the Lord, I’ve been rediscovering what it means to live simply and give generously. It all began when I decided to slow down—a little prayer, some quiet reflection, and peaceful moments in nature.

Slowing Down with God

It all began when I decided to slow down—a little prayer, some quiet reflection, and peaceful moments in nature. Something in these experiences opened my eyes to blessings I used to overlook, leading to inspiring “aha” moments and deep gratitude.

Even something as simple as jotting down what I’m thankful for or taking a calm walk brings me back into His Presence and Love.

The Hard—and Holy—Work of Simplifying

Embarking on the journey toward a simpler life is an exciting and sometimes challenging adventure.

Letting go of things by decluttering and donating can be tough. It may mean releasing precious memories or dreams. And choosing to simplify our schedules often involves making difficult decisions in the pursuit of a more fulfilling, peaceful life.

Here’s the good news: every small, courageous step you take creates space for more joyful, heartfelt moments centered on God.

As I worked to simplify how I spend my time and how I generously give it, I faced difficult choices and learned to set healthy boundaries.

Serving in Small Ways

As my days became simpler, I started to notice something important: some of the most meaningful ways we serve God show up in the smallest, simplest moments.

When I began clearing space in my schedule for family, friends, and real connection, my focus shifted from just “getting things done” to actually loving people well.

Think about it—a quick note of appreciation, really listening when someone needs to talk, sending a card, or even helping a friend declutter. None of those seem big or impressive, but they can completely brighten someone’s day and remind them they’re not alone.

Scripture tells us, “Good will come to the one who lends generously and conducts his business fairly.” Psalm 112:5.

God calls us to give generously—and He doesn’t just mean money. Your time, your attention, your encouragement, your willingness to show up…these are powerful gifts. When we share simple tips, ease a friend’s load, or just sit with someone who’s hurting, we’re living out our faith in real, tangible ways. That’s where community starts to feel like family.

Everyday Service

Friend, serving the Lord isn’t usually big or dramatic. Most of the time, it’s tucked into those everyday moments where the real heart-work happens.

When you slow down for prayer or open your Bible, don’t be surprised if God meets you there with a quiet “aha” moment—a verse that feels like it was written just for you, or a gentle nudge in the right direction. Jotting down a few things you’re grateful for might seem small, but it opens your eyes to blessings you might have missed. Those little realizations have a way of filling your heart with joy and drawing you closer to Him.

And here’s what I’ve seen over and over: some of the most meaningful ways we serve God, happen in those small, hidden moments. Sending a quick text or note to say, “I’m thinking of you.” Dropping a card in the mail. Checking in on a friend who’s been quiet. A few sincere words can remind someone they are seen, loved, and not alone.

I’ve also found so much joy in helping others find a bit more peace and simplicity. Maybe it’s offering to help declutter a room, bringing a home-cooked meal to a friend or neighbor, or sharing a small tip that makes their day a little easier. These things don’t always feel “spiritual,” but they are. They’re acts of love. They’re acts of service. And they matter deeply to God.

Small Steps Matter

So even if your progress feels slow, and even if the hard parts stretch you more than you’d like—don’t give up.

Keep taking those small steps. Every time you let go of what you don’t need, every time you reach out to someone in love, you’re planting seeds of purpose, joy, and meaningful relationship.

You are not walking this road alone. God is with you in the quiet, ordinary moments—and He is using even your smallest acts of obedience and kindness in ways you may not fully see yet.

Less Stuff, More Heart

If there’s one thing I hope stays with you, it’s this: Less Stuff, More Heart. As my relationship with Jesus grows stronger day by day, He’s been drawing me closer—taking me from scattered, broken thoughts to honest, specific prayers. That’s God at work.

Thank you God!

This journey has reminded me that yes, there will always be challenging moments. Yes, it won’t always be easy. But it is so worth it. I’ve discovered that true happiness grows when we loosen our grip on material things and lean into love and generous living. Life feels richer and more meaningful when we cherish simplicity and choose generosity, hand in hand. That’s the heart of living simply and giving generously.

Through it all, I’ve seen that every small, courageous step of letting go creates space for more meaningful moments and deeper, God-centered relationships. And friend, that’s the kind of life we’re made for.

Take a Moment

Before you go, I want to gently encourage you to pause and reflect:

What is one small way you can simplify your life or spread generosity to someone this week?

Your answer might be simpler than you think, but it can still make a real, meaningful difference—for you and for someone else.

Let’s keep moving forward together—living simply, sharing openly, and leading with kindness from our hearts.
